- Tips: As the amount of powder incorporated into the mix is increased, the strength increases
- Incorporate the powder incrementally
- If a large amount of powder is mixed into the liquid all at once, the temperature at the site of the reaction becomes higher, resulting in an increased reaction time and loss of control of the consistency
- For orthodontic bands, a heavy consistency will produce greater film thickness, which is important for band retention
